Project Overview
To enhance internationalization and expand its global influence, the School of Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University (THU) has partnered with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) to establish a Dual Master's Degree Program(Master Plus Programme). The program aims to cultivate global leaders capable of applying engineering principles to solve major biomedical challenges and advancing the translation of research findings into clinical applications.
The program is structured in two phases. In the first year, students study in the Master of Science (Biomedical Engineering) program at NUS, completing the required coursework with a focus on theoretical learning. From the second year, students will begin their studies at THU while concurrently enrolling in Independent Research Project course at NUS, bringing their NUS total to 40 Units required for the MSc degree. At THU, students will engage in engineering practice, research training, and the writing of their Master's thesis under the guidance of Tsinghua advisors and their respective departments. Students who fulfil all NUS graduation requirements will be awarded the Master of Science (Biomedical Engineering) degree by the NUS at the end of the second year. In the third year, students will continue at THU to complete the required of coursework and other academic requirements, and will receive a Master of Engineering degree from THU at the end of the third year. Upon meeting the graduation requirements of the relevant departments at both universities, students will hold Master's degrees from both THU and the NUS.
The NUS is Singapore's premier world-class university, renowned globally for its research in engineering, life sciences and biomedicine, social sciences, and natural sciences. Its Department of Biomedical Engineering enjoys an outstanding academic reputation and research strength in the field of biomedical engineering.
Tuition:
- Tuition for the NUS phase of the program is charged at the prevailing MSc (Biomedical Engineering) rate. This is a whole-program fee comprising an acceptance fee and two semesters of tuition, and it covers both the first-year coursework, and the 4-Unit Independent Research course taken in the second year.
