Overview

Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field that integrates engineering with life sciences and medicine. The discipline emphasizes fundamental research closely related to human health, striving to unravel the mysteries of human life, while also exploring novel methods for the diagnosis and monitoring of major diseases affecting human well-being. Meanwhile, it is dedicated to developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and systems to address health issues and human diseases, thereby promoting the innovative research and development of new medical devices and equipment.

Biomedical engineering takes original basic research as its core, andinnovativemedical instrument development and biomedical applications as itsdrivingforce, aiming to cultivate innovative leading talents who can promote academic innovation and industrial development in the field of biomedical engineering.

The undergraduate curriculum system for biomedical engineering comprises university-wide general education courses and components, specialized training courses, and professional practice modules. The discipline-specific courses includefoundationalcourses (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology) and core major courses (introductory courses, electronic and information core courses, compulsory biomedical engineering courses, and specialized track courses in biomedical engineering). The professional practice modules include internship and practical training and comprehensive thesis research.

The graduate curriculum system for biomedical engineering comprises required public courses, discipline-specific required courses, and required training modules. The required public courses include ideological and political theory courses and foreign language courses. The discipline-specific required courses include fundamental theoretical courses, professional core and elective courses, and interdisciplinary courses. The required training modules include literature review and thesis proposal, participation in academic activities and seminars, and mid-term evaluations of thesis work. For doctoral students, additional requirements include qualification examinations and social practiceactivities.
