Educational Objectives
The Biomedical Engineering program at Tsinghua University is dedicated to cultivating innovative leaders with bilingual proficiency in the fields of life sciences and engineering technology. Educational System
1.Curriculum framework: A curriculum system that emphasizes solidfoundationalknowledge, broad disciplinary scope, and strong practical application, including fundamental courses in science and engineering as well as specializedfoundationcourses in Biomedical Engineering.
2.Featured core courses: Courses include Human Structure and Function, Biomedical Electronics, Biomedical Engineering Materials, Physiological System Simulation and Modeling, along with specialized core courses such as Medical Imaging, Neural Engineering, and Micro/Nano Medicine.
Instructional Content
1.Fundatinal courses in science and engineering: Covering mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science.
2.Foundationalcourses in Biomedical Engineering: Quantitative modeling, material foundations, and subject cognition.
3.Core courses in Biomedical Engineering: Medical Imaging, Neural Engineering, Micro/Nano Medicine and Tissue Engineering.
Experimental and Practical Training
1.Experiments: Physiology and electrophysiology experiments, biomedical sensing and instrumentation experiments, and micro/nano medicine experiments.
2.Practical training: Through comprehensive design courses and internship programs, students will have the opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems.
Student Distribution and Scale
1.Department of Biomedical Engineering: Covering specialized fields including medical imaging, neural engineering, micro/nano medicine and tissue engineering, and medical instrumentation.
2.Weixian College: Emphasizing the educational philosophy of "Virtue and Insight First, Arts and Skills Follow", offering a "3 Major Disciplines + 5 Interdisciplinary Trscks" training framework.
Residential College Education System
1.Tanwei College: Providing university-wide general education and specialized curricula, with emphasis on scientific training and transitional graduate recommendation.
2.Weixian College: Providing university-wide general education, foundational science, engineering fundamentals, and specialized courses, as well as innovative practice and integrated undergraduate–graduate programs.
Comprehensive Thesis Training
1.TIC (Technology Innovation and Challenge Course): A four-year continuous program adopting project-based and progressive research exploration models.
2.Comprehensive thesis training: Including thesis topic selection, mid-term evaluation, and final thesis defense, aiming to cultivate students’research literacy and exploratory capabilities.
Educational Experiment Platforms
1.Platform support system development: Including physiological and electrophysiological experimental platforms, biomedical sensing and instrumentation experimental platforms, and micro/nano medical experimental platforms.
2.Research platforms' role in supporting teaching: Providing intelligent medical robotics platforms, micro/nano medicine and tissue engineering platforms, and neural engineering platforms.
