On November 16, the Inaugural Ceremony of the Biomedical Engineering College Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association and the Biomedical Engineering Alumni Forum were held. Leaders and Guests' Addresses
In his speech, Liu Peng (Party Secretary of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University) stated that since the establishment of Tsinghua's biomedical engineering discipline in 1979, it has developed a comprehensive teaching and research system over 45 years and cultivated a large number of outstanding professionals. This year is an extraordinary one for the development of Tsinghua's medical and biomedical engineering disciplines, as the university has fully upgraded the overall structure of Tsinghua Medicine. Since the establishment of the School of Biomedical Engineering in January 2024, it has actively prepared for the establishment of the alumni branch to unite the strength of alumni, which has received strong support from the majority of alumni. Liu Peng hoped that the alumni branch would actively organize various exchange activities, showcase the demeanor of alumni, promote industry-university-research cooperation, support the development and talent training of the School of Biomedical Engineering, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development of China's medical and health cause.

Guo Liang (Executive Vice President of Tsinghua Strait Research Institute) pointed out in his speech that life and health is one of the four most promising fields in the future, and there is still great room for improvement in China's development in this field. With strong support from the Xiamen Municipal Government, Tsinghua Strait Research Institute has focused on the layout of medical-engineering interdisciplinary research directions, built a cross-field research model, and actively promoted technological innovation in life and health empowered by artificial intelligence. The development of the biomedical engineering discipline and industry requires more support. He hoped that through the platform of the alumni branch, various forces would be aggregated to jointly promote the medical and health field to a new height.

Zhu Liang (Deputy Secretary-General of Tsinghua University Alumni Association and Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Alumni Office) emphasized that alumni are valuable resources of the university. The core purpose of the alumni association is to serve alumni, the university and society, and put forward the concept of "Three Loves Culture". He hoped that under the leadership of Tsinghua University Alumni Association, the alumni branch would adhere to the service purpose, abide by the articles of association of the general association and the working methods of the branch, and encourage and support the majority of alumni to contribute to society and the university.

Zeng Lepeng (Vice President of the Biomedical Engineering College Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association and General Manager of Shenzhen Lifetech Medical Electronics Co., Ltd.) delivered a speech as an alumni representative. He stated that the industrialization of biomedical engineering not only requires continuous breakthroughs in technological research and development, but also in-depth cooperation with multiple fields such as clinical medicine, materials science, engineering technology, artificial intelligence, and even finance and law. It requires both brave explorers and partners to work together. Speech by the Chairman
The first council of the Biomedical Engineering College Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association consists of 72 members, who were selected through standardized procedures in advance. At the preparatory meeting and the first meeting of the council held before the inauguration ceremony, the working methods of the Biomedical Engineering College Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association were voted and adopted. Wang Guangzhi was elected as the Chairman of the alumni branch, Li Dongfeng, Zhao Lei, Yuan Qin, Ben Jinfeng, Cui Tongzhe, Zeng Lepeng and Du Yanan as Vice Chairmen, 14 alumni including Xue Rong as Standing Directors, Teng Yichao as Secretary-General, 6 alumni including Zhu Lei as Deputy Secretary-Generals, and Fang Danyu as the person in charge of alumni affairs.
Wang Guangzhi (Executive Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University and Chairman of the alumni branch) delivered a speech on behalf of the alumni branch. He reviewed the extraordinary development course of the biomedical engineering discipline over the past 45 years and elaborated on the progress and characteristics of the discipline in innovation, talent training, internationalization and other aspects. Wang Guangzhi pointed out that the establishment of the School of Biomedical Engineering this year is a rare opportunity. The school will fully promote high-quality discipline development and high-level talent training. As a bridge for communication between teachers, students and alumni, the alumni branch will actively build a healthy "teacher-student-alumni" community to pass on the friendship between everyone from generation to generation. Wang Guangzhi also hoped that the alumni branch would actively offer suggestions and extensively expand resources for the development of the school. Certificate Awarding
At the inauguration ceremony, Liu Peng introduced the relevant information of the Tsinghua University Biomedical Engineering Development Fund and the Yang Fusheng Education Fund. On behalf of the school, he paid high tribute to the late Professor Yang Fusheng, an important founder of China's biomedical engineering discipline, one of the founders of Tsinghua University's biomedical engineering major, and a renowned biomedical engineering educator. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the majority of alumni who have long supported and funded the development of the discipline and talent training. Cooperation Outlook
Subsequently, Liu Peng interpreted the 2030 Discipline Development Strategic Plan of the School of Biomedical Engineering for the participating guests, teachers, students and alumni, focusing on the school's relevant measures to strengthen platform construction and promote the integration of medical and engineering disciplines, and specially pointed out the recent progress of the school's cooperation with Wenjiang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. As an invited guest, Ma Liehong (Secretary of the CPC Wenjiang District Committee) promoted Wenjiang District to the participating teachers, students and alumni. He pointed out that Wenjiang District has a profound grasp of the development trend of the big health industry and is fully committed to building a first-class highland of the pharmaceutical and health industry in western China. After the inauguration ceremony, the Biomedical Engineering Alumni Forum was held.
