Dedicated to Applying Medical Information Processing Technology to Intelligent Minimally Invasive Surgical Treatments, and Cultivating Innovative Interdisciplinary Medical-Engineering Talents in the Health Field

    Ding Hui Professorate Senior Engineer

Ding Hui is committed to experimental teaching and research in biomedical engineering. In experimental teaching, she is responsible for laboratory instruction for medical information processing courses at the School of Biomedical Engineering, conducts research on teaching methodologies, develops interdisciplinary medical-engineering lab content, and integrates research outcomes into teaching to advance innovative interdisciplinary education. In research, she focuses on computer-assisted minimally invasive surgical treatments and currently leads multiple ongoing projects, including multimodal image-guided minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries, ultrasound fusion imaging, and multimodal image-guided neurosurgical and interventional surgeries.

  • Closely integrating clinical challenges with engineering innovations, exploring new methods and technologies for intelligent minimally invasive surgical treatments.

    Research Focus

Ding Hui conducts research on intelligent minimally invasive surgical technologies guided by medical imaging. By addressing specific clinical challenges, her work spans medical image information extraction, three-dimensional visualization; image-based preoperative and intraoperative surgical planning; image registration; and intraoperative multimodal imaging and navigation, with the aim of developing novel methods and technologies. She has participated in the development of China’s first ultrasound fusion imaging system and the first neurosurgical robotic system for both adult and pediatric patients. She has been granted more than 20 domestic and international invention patents, as well as multiple computer software copyrights to date, with some patents already translated to related medical device products.

    Highlights in Core Fields

l In the field of multimodal image registration and information fusion, the collaboratively developed ultrasound fusion multimodal imaging system has been granted multiple domestic and international invention patents; related papers have received awards at international conferences, and the technology has been applied in ultrasound imaging products.

l In the area of surgical navigation and robotic surgery, the collaboratively developed stereotactic surgical robot has been deployed in multiple hospitals across China.
