On November 10, a delegation from the University of Strathclyde (UK), led by Professor Campbell Booth—Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Vice Principal of the university—paid an official visit to the School of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Tsinghua University. Professor HU TONY YE Dean of Tsinghua’s BME, hosted the delegation in Conference Room B215 of the Medical Science Building. Vice Deans Du Yanan and Zhao Xihai participated in the exchange activity.

Delegation Tours Key Laboratories of BME

The delegation first toured a series of core laboratories under School of Biomedical Engineering, Tsinghua University(BME), including the Imaging Center, Neural Engineering Laboratory, and Biochip Research Center. During the tour, the delegation gained in-depth insights into BME’s latest advancements in key research fields—such as medical imaging, brain-computer interfaces, biochips, and tissue engineering. Researchers from both institutions engaged in in-depth, real-time discussions on technical details of ongoing projects and potential directions for future collaboration.

In-depth Talks and Consensus on Cooperation

Subsequently, the two parties held an exchange seminar, conducting in-depth discussions on core topics such as scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation. Multiple consensuses were reached on key areas including joint laboratory construction, student exchange programs, and two-way technology transfer.

Vice Principal Campbell Booth stated that the scientific research innovation capabilities and interdisciplinary layout of Tsinghua University’s School of Biomedical Engineering are highly impressive. He expressed anticipation for leveraging this visit as an opportunity to promote substantive cooperation between the two sides in more cutting-edge fields. Dean Hu Ye also emphasized that Tsinghua is willing to join hands with the University of Strathclyde to establish a regular exchange mechanism, facilitate the two-way transformation and collaborative expansion of technological achievements, jointly cultivate high-level talents in the interdisciplinary field of medical engineering, and collectively inject new momentum into the innovative development of related disciplines.
