In the golden autumn with refreshing breeze and osmanthus fragrance, on September 10, 2024, while celebrating Teachers' Day, the Tsinghua University (School of Biomedical Engineering) - Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., Ltd. Joint Research Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (abbreviated as Tsinghua (School of Biomedical Engineering) - United Imaging Joint Research Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging) held its official inauguration ceremony at the Tsinghua University Biomedical Imaging Center.

The Tsinghua (School of Biomedical Engineering) - United Imaging Joint Research Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a collaborative establishment between Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua University. Adhering to the principle of "friendly cooperation, mutual benefit, complementary advantages, and common development", it fully leverages Tsinghua University's disciplinary and talent strengths in the field of magnetic resonance imaging technology, combined with Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., Ltd.'s technological R&D advantages and industrial chain resource advantages in medical equipment.

The research center will target national major strategic needs and future development trends, focusing on cutting-edge magnetic resonance imaging technologies and related frontier fields such as clinical science, brain science, big data, and artificial intelligence. It will integrate the entire chain from software and hardware technologies to systems, artificial intelligence, and industrialization, realizing technological innovation, theoretical innovation, and industrial innovation, and striving to build a world-leading high-end magnetic resonance R&D and innovation center.

At the inauguration ceremony, first, Teacher Li Zhengfa from the Institutional Office of the Tsinghua University Research Institute read out the university's resolution on establishing the joint research center, as well as the candidates for the management committee members, director, and deputy directors.

Subsequently, Wang Guangzhi, Executive Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University, and Hu Peng, Executive Dean of the Central Research Institute of United Imaging Group, unveiled the plaque for the joint research center.

Finally, the members of the management committee successively discussed and approved topics including the articles of association of the joint research center, the members of the academic committee, the center's goals, the 2024-2025 work tasks, and the joint research center's project funding plan.

The establishment of the Tsinghua (School of Biomedical Engineering) - United Imaging Joint Research Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a multi-dimensional cooperation between Tsinghua University and United Imaging Group following the introduction of United Imaging's 5T magnetic resonance equipment.
